"While on a Holland America cruise to the Panama Canal, one of our stops was in Port Limon, Costa Rica. Not being satisfied with any of the shore excursions offered by the cruise line, we chose to hire our own guide with private transportation. We found CostaRica-Shore-Excursions.com and are we ever glad we did. Javier Martin owns and operates this company and can arrange for any type of tour that you might want. Our group of 11 was interested in Zip-lining, a beautiful beach, an authentic Costa Rican lunch spot, some eco-touring and some historical background. Javier arranged for a very clean and comfortable 12-20 passenger, air conditioned vehicle that came equipped with a very friendly and accommodating driver whose name is Omar. Everything we were looking for was accomplished.
Javier's knowledge of flora, fauna, history, geography and sociology coupled with his obvious rapport with all of the local people and businesses make for a day during which you feel like you saw the "real" Costa Rica. He customized the trip to exactly what we wanted to see and we never felt like we wasted a minute. One important point: Everyplace we went; Javier (who speaks impeccable English) acted as our interpreter, negotiator, guide and never left us without his assistance. Even when we requested a stop for Costa Rican coffee to take home, he guided us to the right grocery store and assisted with the purchase of the right coffee at the right price. Ready for the best part? For 6-7 hours of time spent with Javier (and the wealth of knowledge that come with that), Zip-lining, lunch and transportation the bill was about $85 per person. Everything included! Now, obviously that's because we had a group of 11, but if you've got a group, this is the only way to go. If you don't have a group, I'm sure he is still reasonably priced, but you'll really enjoy your day in Costa Rica. "
