Why bananas have no seeds?

- It’s believed that several thousands years ago one banana plant suffered of a mutation, after this all bananas world wide carry this same mutation, it is known as parthenogenesis or more correctly for vegetables; parthenocarpy, this is a condition where female parts of flowers will develop embryos without pollen, without fertilization of ovaries.

- This is the reason not only for seedless fruits, but also means there’s no sexual reproduction on bananas, the only way to reproduce them is by asexually techniques, in other words, by cuttings of the mother plant, in this case of banana some shoots or buds show close to the root system, and new plants come from their extraction.

- Next…. We will visit the packing process of bananas…
